Family Toolbox
An important component of the Toolbox program is what we call the HomeConnection. With each lesson, a Tool of the Week letter is sent home explaining the Tool students are learning about that week and suggesting ways that the Tool can be helpful within the family. We also send home HomeConnection activities that children do with a parent, guardian or older family member. These activities help both students and families understand better what the tool is and how to use it at home. Often schools host parent workshops to discuss Toolbox; parents are always amazed at how much their child’s self-management skills have improved after only the first few lessons. Many parents find using the Tools helps them be better parents.
In the future we plan to publish a Family Toolbox guide featuring more ways the tools can be helpful to parents and families. If you are interested in being notified, contact us.
“My son uses the Toolbox at home all the time . . . the great thing is he is able to keep me honest about my behavior . . . we’ve incorporated a lot of its usefulness into the family.”– Parent of kindergartener
