Practical Skills for Resilient Educators

This colorful, concise resource book outlines how you can use the We Are Resilient™ Approach for yourself and within your school or classroom. The approach helps you manage your stress, create workable boundaries, promote emotional wellness, and create a climate of belongning in your classrooom or school. After describing five different types of resilience and presenting an overview of the approach, it explains how the approach fits into the context of the CASEL 5 Core Competency Areas. Then it proposes what might get in the way of resilience with a quick overview of our Cultural Patterns and Protective Patterns— as well as our Adverse Childhood Experiences. It proposes the three Resilient Mindsets as essential to guiding us in these patterns and skills. The last three sections explain practical Resilience Skills for Centering, Connecting, and Collaborating, including the science that supports each skill and how to share it with our students using the practice, model, coach method. This book is helpful for both administrators and teachers to use themselves and as a tool to share the concepts with other colleagues and students.
