Resilient Mindsets Overview

Learn how Resilient Mindsets work in our life.

Resilient Mindsets—Curiosity, Courage, and Choice—are foundational ways of thinking that help us center, connect, and collaborate more effectively. These mindsets empower us to meet life’s challenges with presence and purpose. Curiosity, Courage, and Choice aren’t just ideas—they are practical, learnable approaches we can strengthen over time. When we intentionally engage a Resilient Mindset, we create space between stimulus and response. We’re more likely to act from our values rather than our stress. Practicing these mindsets helps us shift out of reactivity and toward resilience, enabling us to respond with more clarity, compassion, and confidence.

The Resilient Mindset: Curiosity

Resilient Mindsets are attitudes that open doorways to what is possible.

What am I curious about in myself, others, or the world?

What don’t I know about this situation?

What is happening within me that impacts my stress?

What must be true for others to be the way they are?

What does Curiosity look like?

Curiosity involves dropping judgements and being in a place of wonder.

  • Noticing and wondering about our judgments.
  • Being open to what we can learn by pausing our judgments
  • Letting people (or situations) be just the way they are
  • Asking ourselves questions about what might be true
  • .Asking others clarifying questions

Notice – Wonder – Learn

What empowering choices can I make?

What is happening within me that impacts my stress?
How can act with kindness, strength, and healthy boundaries?
What can I consider must be true for others to be the way they are?

What does Choice look like?

Choice involves realizing there may be options I haven’t yet considered. It includes the Resilient Mindset of Curiosity—being curious about what choices may be possible?

  • Noticing what I observe in myself or others and considering options.
  • Noticing what might be possible.
  • Pausing to take some space before responding.
  • Noticing the impact of my potential responses or actions.
  • Choosing a response that will help the most.
